Hi! I want to help you make the sounds you didn’t know you could.

Are you trans? Do you want your singing or speaking voice to better align with your gender identity and sense of self?

My mission is to equip fellow trans speakers and singers with the knowledge, abilities, and confidence they need to guide their voices to be what they want them to be.

I firmly believe that our voices are capable of far more than we are often led to assume.

I synthesize extensive study in voice science and pedagogy with my own lived experience as a performing transfeminine vocalist to provide an approach that’s tailored to your goals. Via the online studio of TransVoiceLessons, I offer fully remote voice consultations, speaking voice coaching, and singing lessons to those seeking to discover their voices.

Services

Voice Consultation 30 minutes for $65.00

Consultations are most useful for asking questions, getting specific feedback about something, receiving general info about voice or the process of voice learning, or figuring out if what I offer is right for you! It isn't required to have a consultation before booking a coaching or singing lesson.

Speaking Voice Coaching 55 minutes for $100.00

These sessions are for clients who want to focus on modifying their speaking voice. These are ideal for those who are just beginning the process of vocal transition as well as those with some experience looking for the next steps to take in achieving their voice goals.

Singing Voice Lesson 55 minutes for $90.00

These sessions are especially ideal for clients who have already made changes to their speaking voice and want to learn or expand on their singing abilities. All levels of singing experience are welcome! Common topics include range expansion, long-term voice building, navigating registration, ease of production, and resonance modification strategies.

Interested in lessons but can’t afford these rates?

I understand that financial accessibility to transition-related resources remains a challenge for many of us. Occasionally, I host "accessibility days" with blocks of heavily discounted voice lessons intended for those who cannot afford my usual rates. For more information, see the page below.

In addition to private voice teaching, I have worked as a choral conductor, a producer, an audio engineer, and a keyboardist. Music, voice, and sound are my passions.

As an active choral singer, I primarily sang bass II (the lowest voice part) before my transition. My speaking voice rested very low, and I had internalized the pervasive messages of my early voice education that singing "outside of my Fach" would surely result in vocal pathologies.

When I began my transition, I felt daunted by my vocal identity. I knew I wanted to sing a higher voice part, but I was met with a substantial lack of institutionalized resources about how to do so in a sustainable and gender-affirming way. After the help of numerous mentors, tireless research, and countless hours of trial and error, I’ve come to be most comfortable regularly singing alto or mezzo-soprano.

Now, I have never been more ecstatic about voice learning and discovery. I have fallen in love with the process of voice transition, and I want to help others do the same.

My Story

Q: Is what you offer the same as voice therapy?

Short answer: no!

I am not a clinical provider of voice therapy; I offer vocal coaching and education from a place of lived experience and knowledge as opposed to speech therapy associated with a medical practice (e.g. provided by a speech-language pathologist). Your vocal health is ultimately your responsibility! While I may ask questions or make recommendations about general voice care and health, clients should not regard suggestions as medical advice. I cannot offer diagnoses or rehabilitation of vocal injuries or chronic vocal conditions. In the case of concern, I recommend that clients who suspect they may be affected by such issues consider seeking assessment by a medical professional if such resources are safe and accessible to them. If you believe this may apply to you and have questions or concerns about this, please feel free to email me before booking a session.
